Midwifery Services

Home Based Care

Having a baby is an amazing & transformative life event for you & your family! The Midwives Model of Care is based on the fact that pregnancy & birth are normal life processes.

Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) offer care, education, counseling & support to women & their families throughout pregnancy, birth & postpartum period. Providing individualized care & education to each family I serve is my honor & joy. My goal is for each mother to feel heard & understood, have my full attention & presence at visits, & to feel empowered with information & choices after each time we meet.

I provide on-going in home care through your pregnancy & continuous, hands-on care during labor, birth & the immediate postpartum period, as well as maternal & well-baby care through the 6 week postpartum period.

Prenatal Care

From the first "Could I be pregnant?!" to your weekly prenatal visits at term, I provide personalized care to each family I serve.

Whether you want tips for managing early symptoms, need lab work drawn & want a conversation about the results, or have clinical questions (none too big or too small), I'm here to help. Our prenatal care looks similar clinically to hospital based care, with the distinction of having more time one on one with your provider for questions & conversation. Sometimes simply sharing ideas to prepare your older children for the new baby, chatting about different birth classes, or answering more in-depth questions; I have the knowledge, experience & resources to assist you along the way!

Labor & Delivery

This is your baby & your story. I am here to guide you, help keep everyone safe & manage any complications that could arise during the birthing process.

My priorities are always making sure the families in care with me are supported & fully informed in their birth choices; ensuring shared decision making every step of the way, & knowing when (& which) interventions may be warranted to keep mom & baby healthy.

Immediate Postpartum

From the first moment meeting your new precious one, I am there to help hold a calm peaceful space for all. It's my honor to watch mom & baby connecting, while safely monitoring any issues that come with this big transition.

The "Golden Hour" is truly a minimum goal; spending as much time with mom & baby skin to skin, bonding, initiating breastfeeding, & the family lovingly greeting their new one is always a beautiful, sacred time.

Typically, I stay with the family a minimum of 3 hours post birth to assess wellness & stability of mom & baby, clean-up the birth space, suture lacerations if needed, then answer questions & ensure a full understanding of Postpartum Instructions.

Newborn Care

Midwives not only care for pregnant moms, we are also newborn care providers. Shortly after your birth, once everyone has had a chance to meet baby & settle in, I do a thorough head-to-toe newborn assessment, often with the whole family present (& taking lots of photos of baby)!

Mom can lay back, relax & enjoy a snack or meal, while we weigh, measure, listen & look over your sweet little person.

Postpartum & Beyond

Regular check-ins for mom & baby are standard. I return at 24-36 hours postpartum for the Newborn Metabolic Screening (PKU), Critical Congenital Heart Defect test (CCHD), Birth Certificate paperwork & weight check for baby. Another check-in at 1-2 weeks postpartum & a "final visit" at 6 weeks for both mom & baby. Our care period closes with a "see ya soon!" rather than a goodbye.

Though our time together has officially ended, I offer continued support & access to resources, including a growing Lending Library (I also love receiving precious pictures & updates sent to me over the first year).
